Enterprising Africa Regional NetworkConnecting Africa for Business

Privacy notice

This notice explains what personal information African Greeneurs collects through this website, why, who it is shared with, how long it is kept and the rights you have under the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA). Last updated 19 October 2026.

Who we are

This website is run by African Greeneurs (Pty) Ltd (registration number 2015/394877/07), part of the Enterprising Africa Regional Network (EARN) group. African Greeneurs is the responsible party for the personal information collected on this website. Our address is Plot 116 Knopjeslaagte 385JR, M26 Main Road, Centurion, 0158, South Africa; email info@africangreeneurs.com; phone +27 12 669 3012.

What we collect

Short course bookings and waitlists: your name, email address, phone number, the course, date, number of seats and way of attending you choose, the payment method and payment reference. We never receive your card number: card and instant EFT payments are made on PayFast's or Stitch's own secure pages.

Registering interest in a programme: your name, gender, age group, identity or passport number, contact details, location, programme of interest, education, current situation, farming experience, land access, and the motivation you write for us.

Partner and sponsor enquiries: organisation name, contact person, contact details, the funding types, beneficiary groups or contributions you select, an optional funding value range, and the outcomes you describe.

The newsletter, contact and ElevAfrica forms: your name, email address, phone number where asked, the topic you choose and your message.

Everyone: basic technical and campaign information (the page you came from, the page you landed on, your browser type and any campaign tags in the link) so we understand where enquiries come from.

Why we use it

We use your information only for the purpose you gave it to us for:

  • to take and confirm your booking, send your course details and learner site login, run the course and handle refunds and transfers (needed to carry out the booking you made with us);
  • to consider your interest in a programme and contact you about it (at your request);
  • to reply to your enquiry or message (at your request);
  • to keep the financial, tax and training records the law and our accreditation require (a legal obligation);
  • to keep the website secure and understand how it is used (our legitimate interest, with no link to your name);
  • to send growing tips, course news and offers, only if you ask for them (your consent).

Identity and passport numbers

The programme interest form asks for a South African ID number, or a passport number if you are outside South Africa. We use it to confirm who you are if you are selected for a programme, and, if you enrol in an accredited programme, for the learner records our AgriSETA accreditation requires. An identity number is a unique identifier under POPIA: it is seen only by the team that handles applications, and it is never used for marketing. Short course bookings do not ask for an ID number.

Sharing your information

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with:

  • The service providers who run parts of this website for us, under agreements that require them to keep it secure and use it only on our instructions: Airtable (our records system), our website host (Vercel), PayFast (part of the Network International group) and Stitch (payments), Resend (booking emails), Retell AI (the website chatbot) and Upstash (the website's visit counts, which hold no names).
  • Our learner site (edu.africangreeneurs.com): your name and email address are used to create your learner account when you book an online course.
  • EARN group companies, only where an EARN company runs the programme or partnership you ask about.
  • AgriSETA, only for learners enrolled in an accredited programme, as its accreditation rules require.
  • Anyone the law requires us to share it with, such as the South African Revenue Service.

Some of these providers store information outside South Africa (for example in the United States or the European Union). We use them only on terms that protect your information to the standard POPIA requires (section 72).

How long it's kept

  • Bookings and payment records: 5 years after the booking, as tax and accounting law requires.
  • Programme interest forms: while your interest is being considered and for up to 2 years after our last contact with you, unless you ask us to delete them sooner. If you enrol in an accredited programme, your learner records are kept for as long as the accreditation rules require.
  • Partner enquiries and messages: up to 2 years after our last contact with you.
  • Newsletter sign-ups: until you unsubscribe.
  • Website visit counts: about 13 months (see Website analytics below).

How we protect it

The website uses an encrypted connection (HTTPS). Personal information is kept in systems that only the African Greeneurs team members who need it can open, and card details never reach us.

Marketing

Receiving updates, newsletters and opportunities from us is optional and is never a condition of booking, applying or enquiring. You can withdraw that consent at any time by contacting us on the details below.

Website chatbot

Our website chatbot is provided by Retell AI. What you type is processed by Retell to answer your questions, and your conversation is saved in your browser so you can pick it up again. If you ask it to have someone contact you, it passes your first name, phone number and question to us.

Website analytics

To understand how the site is used, we count visits ourselves. Your browser keeps a random visitor number and visit number (in its local storage), and sends us the pages you view, roughly how long you spend on them, which site or campaign brought you, whether you use a phone, tablet or computer, your country, and clicks on course and booking buttons. We don't store your IP address, and these counts are never linked to your name or contact details. The detailed daily counts are deleted after about 13 months; only daily totals are kept after that.

If your browser sends a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal, none of this is collected.

Your rights

Under POPIA you can:

  • ask whether we hold personal information about you, and for a copy of it;
  • ask us to correct information that is wrong, or to delete information we no longer need or are not allowed to keep;
  • object to us using your information, and withdraw any consent you gave, at any time;
  • refuse marketing messages at any time;
  • complain to the Information Regulator (inforegulator.org.za (opens in a new tab)) if you believe we have not handled your information properly.

To use any of these rights, email info@africangreeneurs.com with "Information Officer" in the subject line. We reply within 30 days. Our Information Officer is our Managing Director.

If we change how we use personal information, we update this notice and the date at the top of it.
