Three days of live online training in integrated pest management: preventing problems before they start, and controlling them safely when they do.
Course overview
This course introduces learners to common crop pests, diseases and weeds that can reduce agricultural productivity. Learners learn how to monitor crops, identify signs of damage and recognise potential causes of crop health problems. The course explains Integrated Pest Management (IPM), including cultural, mechanical, biological and responsible chemical control methods. Emphasis is placed on prevention, regular scouting and choosing control measures appropriate to the problem. Learners are introduced to safe pesticide handling, label instructions, protective equipment and environmental protection. By the end of the course, learners should be able to describe practical approaches to protecting crops while reducing unnecessary risks to people, beneficial organisms and the environment.
